I’m from São Paulo, Brazil and I still remember how stoked I was the first time I surfed the web back in the 90’s. Although I’ve always liked technology, I felt that it would not be the path for me due to lack of resources, proper education, and opportunities. When I had to pick a career to study at college, I chose Languages (English and Portuguese). Then, 8 years ago I moved to the USA, and, after working as barista, cashier, dog walker, and Portuguese tutor, I got a contractor position at a big tech company as a content moderator. While there, I had the opportunity to take some free courses in Python and that re-sparked my desire to learn more coding. My contract position was about to end, so I was looking for a job. I was trying to decide if I wanted to do a bootcamp — I love playing with data analysis and Python but bootcamp prices were scary. It was perfect timing when I heard about Techtonica through a Latinas in Tech FB group, so I decided to give it a shot! And here I am, day 2 at Techtonica!
